For the eigth year in a row, Marianna Gatto, historian and executive director of the Italian American Museum of Los Angeles, is organizing the Taste of Italy festival in Downtown LA. Ever had the pleasure of tasting lardo from Garfagnana, in Northern Tuscany? Ever seen how burrata is made? Or binged on truffles? All of these while listening to performances by LA Opera, the jazz sensation The Jasmine Tommaso Trio.

Taste of Italy Los Angeles 2016: Why you should go
Whether you’ve already been or not, you don’t want to miss Taste of Italy 2016. This year’s edition promises to be even bigger and more entertaining.
Taste of Italy will showcase over 35 of the region’s best Italian restaurants, together with Californian and Italian wineries. Think Valentino, Drago Centro, Il Fornaio, Prova Pizzeria, Celestino, Locanda del Lago… and for the first time, directly from Lucca, Tuscany, taste a 12th century menu from the Antica Locanda di Sesto! (here’s a complete list of participants).
I don’t know about you, but I don’t have the time (or the money) to visit all these great restaurants. At Taste of Italy, you will get to stroll right by them, so problem solved!

What else? Urbani Truffles, the most important truffle importer to the US, will brings its products. Mimmo Bruno of DiStefano Cheese will serve you fresh burrata and mozzarella. Expect to see a stand of Prosciutto di Parma, which will probably have a line.
